About my current job
As a UK and European patent attorney, I help clients protect and exploit their technology through intellectual property.
Something important I learned during my time at EP
There was an opportunity to study AI for one of the exams as part of the EP course and I enjoyed it so much I went on to study AI as an MSc at Edinburgh University. Computer vision was a key area of AI at the time and I returned to the psychology department in Oxford to study for my DPhil in vergence eye movements and stereopsis.
How did my education influence my career path?
My education as a scientist doing experimental work has helped me in my career where it is vital to be able to understand new technologies quickly. My education in AI has been influential in my career because of the growth and movement of AI technologies into the mainstream over the last years.
Fond memories of my time at EP
I have fond memories of the mid-morning tea break on, was it floor C? After a morning of experimental work in the labs with no daylight, it was wonderful to be in the sunny area and discuss ideas for research with colleagues. As a fund raiser, the Zoology Department sold coffee mugs and I still have mine today!
