About my current job
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, at Boston University. My work involves research and teaching in psychology and neuroscience. I am also the director of the Denison Lab, where we study visual perception, attention and decision making.
How did my education influence my career path?
During my time at EP, I started to develop my interests in temporal aspects of sensory processing, which is something I am still fascinated by and is central to my current research. A rotation in Kia Nobre's lab and one of the essays I got to write for the MSc were influential on this front. Meanwhile, in Andrew Parker's lab (working also with Kristine Krug) I saw the power of marrying neural measurements and psychophysics, which I've tried to do since.
Beyond specific topics and methods, I felt like the research vibe at Oxford was more contemplative than the slightly hectic US pace I was used to - have a long walk, drink some tea, and think a lot about what's the best scientific question you can ask. I really appreciated that opportunity to slow down and think and always try to keep that bit of Oxford with me.
Fond memories of my time at EP
I must admit that I loved the tuna toasties that could be had for a song from the EP canteen.
