About my current job
My role involves developing and disseminating psychological treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Something important I learned during my time at EP
So much! I still refer to studies I learned about during my undergrad in my work today. I also learned how to absorb a lot of information and write an essay very quickly, mainly because I always left it to the last minute. But it has proved a useful life skill as I write quite a lot in my current role.
How did my education influence my career path?
I had already planned to become a clinical psychologist, but my experiences at EP consolidated that as I enjoyed the modules related to mental health. It also made me realise what an exciting field psychology was - the pace of development and new learning is so fast. It made me realise how much there still was to discover and that, as a researcher, I could play a part in that.
How did friends made during your time at EP influence your life?
My uni friends remain some of my best friends today. They are a collection of bright, questioning, hilarious people who continue to inspire me to try and keep up.
With the benefit of hindsight, do you have any advice you'd give your younger self?
Maybe to spend less time in the bar and more in lectures! What you are learning now will be useful for the rest of your life and you are being taught by the best. Although I'm pretty sure I was given that advice at the time, so I'm not sure I'd listen...
