About my current job
I lead a team of data scientists and product managers that are working on building Eno (Capital One's banking digital assistant). This cross-functional team builds natural language processing (NLP) models, develops labeled datasets and works toward optimising customer service experiences
Something important I learned during my time at EP
My education taught me how to critically solve a problem in terms of learning how to frame a poorly defined problem, develop testable hypotheses and execute. I did this over and over again when I was researching the development of hand eye coordination for my DPhil, and this prepared me well for my later roles in academia and now as a data scientist.
With the benefit of hindsight, do you have any advice you'd give your younger self?
Advice I would give my younger self would be to stop being so shy, get out of the cozy confines of the lab, and really get to know the talented people working in the department. I met many wonderful, kind individuals during my DPhil, but I also wonder about the missed opportunities - who didn't I meet and what did I miss?!
