About my current job
I research mental imagery and its impact on the emotions. My research group develops methods for reducing the risk of intrusive memores soon after trauma, and works with refugees and PTSD survivors.
What inspired me during my degree
My tutor Nick Rawlins was fabulous - just so amazingly patient when I was puzzled by learning theory, and also encouraging of curiosity and far-ranging discussions from travel to science. My tutorial partner from Lady Margaret Hall, Joe Billington, is still one of my favourite people in the world.
Something important I learned during my time at EP
I learned that psychology is such a young science and that there is far more we don't know than we do know, and that taking time to sit in the coffee area is a very good thing.
Advice for current students at EP?
I learned that it's OK to go bright red when you ask a question in a lecture and even have your friends tease you...or at least it's more interesting to try and ask than not to ask at all!
Other reflections
After finishing my EP degree, I went to art college, but came back to psychology. My favourite part of the degree were the practicals and experiments, something I'm still doing today!
