Something important I learned during my time at EP
My tutorial sessions with Stuart Sutherland (psychology) and John Lemmon (philosophy and logic) both inspired me greatly. In particular, they were both interested in philosophy of mind, and my discussions with them helped to inform my later research on perception and attention over the years.
How did my education influence my career path?
My education benefited greatly from the tutorial system. The only lecture series I attended during my three years at Oxford was given by the philosopher J. L. Austin, and I still remember the remarkable debates he had with those in the audience concerning issues in the philosophy of mind.
Fond memories of my time at EP
Soon after I arrived at Oxford, I met J. Anthony (Tony) Deutsch, and we were married within the year. My fondest memories are with him.
